Daily Devotions -Be Ready When He Comes

Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him -John 11:20.

When Jesus shows up we need to be ready. If we were told to expect a visit from a high profiled politician like a senator, a congressman, a mayor, the governor of the state you live in, or even the president you would see to it that everywhere in the home is properly cleaned and in order. Well when a more honorable than any other man on this earth comes to visit He only require that we be ready in spirit. Be ready when He comes. Jesus the Son of God is omnipresent and being everywhere at the same time, seeing and knowing everything, past, present and future and then having all power over every other power in the entire universe, there is nothing that escapes Him or surprises Him at anytime.
There is no need to jump to get everything in order in the home or neighborhood because He is coming. He is already there. All He requires is that we give Him our hearts just as we are. That is the readiness He requires. Let's look at some examples of what happens when He showed up during His time here on earth when He gave up His glory for a time and minimize His omnipresence ability indicated in the Gospels of the New Testament.
In Matthew 8:1-3 a leper came up to Him and worshipped Him, asking if He was willing He could heal him. Jesus had just come down from a mountain and walked in that very direction where the leper was and that leper was ready, so Jesus answered him "I am willing, be thou clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. In verses 5-13 of the same chapter Jesus entered Capernaum and a centurion was ready for Him. He asked Jesus to heal his servant and when Jesus offered to come to his house to heal the servant the centurion gave such a startling explanation of why Jesus could do it from where he was that Jesus commended him above any Jew and the servant was healed that self same hour.
In verses 14-15, Jesus showed up at Peter's house where his mother-in-law was sick with a fever, as soon as Jesus touched her the fever left her and she got up and ministered to everyone present.
In verses 16-17 everyone was informed throughout the neighborhood that Jesus was visiting and they brought to Him many possessed with devils and many that were sick and the Word of God says Jesus cast out the devils and healed everyone.
Then Jesus shows up on the other side of the see of Galilee in verses 28-32 and casts a vast number of demons who called themselves "legion" out of two possessed with them, into some swine and the swine ran down a steep slope into the sea and drowned themselves.
When Jesus shows up be ready for He means business.
In John 11 Jesus came to Bethany with a plan. He showed up four days after a friend died after being urged to come and heal him of a sickness which was sure to take his life days earlier. Jesus certainly had a plan. He prayed at the graveside, "Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hear me always, but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me." Jesus waited until Lazarus, His friend whom He loved very much (chapter 11:3) died and was buried for four days before showing up. Talk about not coming when He's needed or not on our time but on His. He showed up that late to do a mightier work which would signify to the people present there and to the world for future generations that He is the Son of God and He is present in the flesh sent by God the Father to fulfill His purpose. Then he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus! Come forth!"
Many preachers have said that had He not called Lazarus by name, everyone who had died from the first man Adam, all the way down to Lazarus and any that may have just died after Lazarus, up to that point, would have got up and "come forth." As soon as Jesus finished that command He that was dead for four days and was wrapped in burial cloth and had a napkin tied around his face came hopping out of the grave in answer to his name. Everyone that was there was astonished at this amazing act. Be ready When Jesus comes!
Prayer: Lord help us to be ready when You come and not miss the hour of our visitation. Amen!!!

Encouragement: Pray always and watch, for you know not the hour of your visitation.

Daily Devotion -He Brings Life

The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy. I (Jesus) have come that you might have life in abundance -John 10:10.

Jesus said He is the bread of life, the fountain of living water, the door for the sheep, the good shepherd, the light of the world, the way, the truth and the life, and the resurrection and life. Whoever believes in Him though he were dead he shall live again, and whosoever lives and believes in Him shall never die.

Jesus came to seek and to save those who are lost and he came that all may have life and have it more abundantly. The thief hates all mankind who are created by God but God loves us tremendously. He cares about our welfare and our joy. It is His good pleasure to give us of the kingdom. He wants to do more for us than we could ever ask or imagine but we must first come to Him and ask, seek and knock so we will receive, find and have doors open to us.

Nothing can stop God from doing His good pleasure for us but we need to accept what He has for us as He will not force His will unto us. Search the scriptures for in them you will find God's perfect will for your lives which is the truth and when you do find this truth it will set you free.

Prayer: Lord teach us where we lack knowledge of Your will and Your way. Amen.

Encouragement: Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you. But first, know what to ask for according to God's will and ask in Jesus' name. Know that what you're seeking is according to His will. And when a door is closed and doesn't open move to the next door. Be sure you're moving in His perfect will. God Bless You.
